Focus on the landscapes of Lyon
Lyon offers some breathtaking views from the top of its two hills. Did you know that, on a clear day, you can see as far as Mont Blanc?
Take a stroll on Fourvière Hill with panoramic views that offer a different perspective of Lyon’s cityscapes. The parks and gardens of ‘la colline qui prie’ (‘the hill that prays’, in reference to Fourvière Basilica) offer splendid viewpoints of the city, the neighbourhoods below and the varied landscapes.
From one ‘ficelle’ (‘string’, as the funiculars are known in Lyon) to the other, the route takes you across a footbridge, overlooking beautiful gardens, to Fourvière Basilica and its incredible panoramic view of the entire city, and then on to parks and gardens, historic monuments and archaeological sites, where you can take in views of Lyon that are all different and all stunning. The route ends at Saint-Just funicular station, where you can take a gentle ride back down to Vieux-Lyon (Old Lyon).
These neighbourhoods have been inhabited since Antiquity and are dotted with historic monuments. Your guide will tell you about their origins and features. Here, however, the city’s history is for once outshone by the beauty of its geography, as, while this tour includes UNESCO World Heritage Sites, it puts the spotlight on the panoramic views and magnificent cityscapes.

I was born in the north of France and decided to come to Lyon about fifteen years ago to finish my studies… and I've been here ever since!
My interest in foreign languages and heritage led me to study for a lecturing guide diploma prior to branching out to accompany groups in France and abroad
Having starting out in Bourgogne, I now work as a guide in Lyon and the surrounding area (Vienne, Beaujolais, southern Bourgogne, Pérouges).
What I still really enjoy about this job are the human encounters and the wide variety of themes broached. It's never boring!
My favourite place in Lyon: Les Jardins du Rosaire… an absolute must!

When seeking to share Lyon's heritage with people, I like to broach the question from the viewpoint of technical skills and know-how, and even economy, whether it's architecture and town planning, or vineyards and gastronomy.
