Discovering the Hermitage - Full day
Legendary wines
The Northern Rhône Valley is famous for its exceptional wines. Come discover the soils on which the vine grows, the cellars in which the wines are vinified to understand the origin of the aromas so specific of these AOC.
After meeting you in front of the Tourist Office in Place Bellecour in Lyon, you and your chauffeur-guide will hit the road towards the south, where the prestigious Côte-Rôtie vineyard. During a walk in the vineyards, you will discover why this wine is exceptional. You will immediately be seduced by the view of the Rhone Valley and the steep slopes of this vineyard. A tasting of 5 to 6 wines including Saint-Joseph, Condrieu and of course Côte-Rôtie will allow you to start this day in style. You will appreciate the floral aromas of Viognier as well as the fruity and silky taste of Syrah on their original terroir.You will then take the road south towards the legendary Hermitage wine.
After stopping for lunch (not included, in a local restaurant selected by our partner) , you will taste 5 to 6 wines from the Rhone Valley in a local estate, including Hermitage and Crozes Hermitage. Grown on the left bank of the Rhone on a very specific terroir and in a warm climate, you will discover wines with aromas of red fruits and flowers. You will stop in another domain to taste some pearls of the North Rhone Valley before heading to the Hermitage hill to enjoy a magnificent view of the vineyards and the Rhone.
By the end of the day, it will be time to head on back to Lyon.

Excellent tour, wonderful day!

Such a wonderful tour for wine trade and novices. The substance was educational, while staying relaxed. A full day your is recommended. I do believe the lunch should be included, and finding the meeting point was slightly complicated. These however did not ruin the experience.
I will certainly book another tour with OnlyLyon again when I’m back.

This was a great experience. Matilda our host did a truly amazing job. She was personable, and she has a great personality and was very helpful. She knows wines and she knows the vineyards in this region very well.
I would definitely do another wine tasting and I would hope that Matilda will be hosting the next time.

Moreover, the tour itself provided breathtaking views of the Northern Rhône Valley, and the wines tasted throughout the day certainly didn’t disappoint, either.
