South Burgundy wines and Fuissé tasting
Comfortably seated in a minibus and accompanied by your tour guide, set off to explore the North of Lyon and go on a fascinating wine tour in Southern Burgundy, nicknamed the Burgundy of the Sun!
Take the magnificent wine route and discover the end of Beaujolais region with its breathtaking landscapes and granite terroirs. Continue with Macon vineyards birthplace of Chardonnay grape varietal and pass several small picturesque villages built in ocher stone: Saint Véran, Leynes, Fuissé...
Then, open the door to a family wine estate. Discover its history and learn about wine-making and the art of aging in barrels. Taste several white and red wines including the famous Pouilly-Fuissé appellation. Feel all the finesse & freshness of these perfectly balanced wines with a slight oaky finish.
Continue the wine tour with a stop to discover the emblematic “Roche de Solutré” (493 m). Admire this “Sphinx” of Nature, symbol of the Southern Burgundy region. Then head towards Cluny for lunch.
Savor the delicious cuisine of Southern Burgundy including the famous beef bourguignon. Menus from 24 euros during the week, not included.
Start the afternoon with stroll through the streets of Cluny, a city known worldwide for its abbey. With your guide, learn about its history and how Cluny influenced viticulture and wines and contribute to Burgundian identity over the centuries with the philosophy of the "terroirs" (soils).
Follow the journey driving on a magnificent road till a pretty Burgundy wine chateau that produces Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines. With your guide, visit the vaulted cellar and the wine cellar then taste 6 wines in a friendly atmosphere.
Take the time to savor these Burgundy wines which are characterized by a fruity bouquet, aromatic complexity and a beautiful length on the palate.
Then return to Lyon for an arrival around 5:30 p.m.

We joined three other couples to visit the Macon and Beaujolais wine regions. The guide Olivier is educated in wine making and freely shared his knowledge while navigating through the villages and vineyards. Both tastings were informative about the differing terroirs, which Olivier elaborated throughout the day. He also conducts Rhone tours, and we recommend him without hesitation

We took a tour of Beajolais & Macon with Olivier. We visited several small wineries where Kanpai has relationships and really got to soak up Olivier's knowledge of the terroirs of Pouilly-Fuisse, Fleurie, and the Chateau de la Chaise. I have to say we learned quite a bit and certainly enjoyed all of the wonderful wines we tried!
We really enjoyed our tour day and highly recommend Kanpai's services!
