Northern Rhône wines - Full day
An excursion for Syrah, Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne lovers!
he three northern most appellations of the Rhone Valley sublimate these grape varieties on their beautiful terroir.
You will start your wine journey in the town of Ampuis, the birthplace of the Côte-Rôtie appellation.
You will discover the steep slopes of one of the oldest vineyards in France where you’ll see how the sun exposure and the rich and complex terroir is perfect for the red Syrah grape variety. You will immediately be seduced by the magnificent view of the Rhone Valley.
During a visit and tasting of 5 to 6 wines in a winery in the heart of the vineyards, you will learn about the origin of this exceptional wine and understand why it is so sought after and why it covers such a small area.
After stopping for lunch (not included, in a local restaurant selected by our partner), you will head south to the vineyards of the town and appellation Condrieu, an even more discreet wine, but as important to Viognier as its neighbour is to Syrah. You will push the door of a local winery where you will see that the terroir, the grape variety but also the winemaker make a wine so unique.
During the tasting, you will enjoy all the aromatic richness of these great white wines. You will be able to taste the wine of the appellation Saint-Joseph, a wine a little more rustic which is characterised by it’s spicey aromas.
