The traboules of the Croix-Rousse hill and the famous people of Lyon mural
A Guided tour that includes gentle slopes, traboules, murals that depict Lyon's most famous people, and goes in search of the silk workers...
Walk from one traboule to the next, in the footsteps of the silk workers or canuts, .
These passageways through buildings (which are very useful, and you'll soon know why!) tell you the story of 19th century canuts.
There's no reason to be afraid as you cross La Cour des Voraces* although some traboules do have some very strange sounding names.
After walking down the slopes of the Croix-Rousse hill through the Traboules, cross the Place des Terreaux, where you can admire the town hall, the Fine Arts Museum and Bartholdi's fountain. From here, you will to cross the square to get to the mural that depicts the illustrious citizens of Lyon. You will see portraits of the great men who have lived in Lyon from Roman times to the present day: Abbé Pierre, Saint-Exupéry, the Lumière brothers, Paul Bocuse and Bernard Pivot rub shoulders with Claude Bernard, Louise Labé and the Emperor Claudius...
Immortalize the moment and become famous among the famous!
